Speaker bio
Being a Second is more than just a collection of strengths. It’s a way of being and seeing that defines some types of leaders. It’s who they are. Seconds are often versatile enough that their true potential is untapped because they can serve as great contributors on any team.
But if you know how Seconds are activated and what that activation can create across all levels of a project and team, you will never want anyone but a Second supporting your top-line leadership.
In Nathan’s talk and his book, How to be Second, he brings the discovery of the identity of Seconds to the front and helps you understand if you’re one of these “Seconds” or not.
He attempts to clear up several misconceptions between identities and roles, and provides people who would say “I am a Second” the clarity and connections they need to take their next steps personally and professionally.
Nathan Young has served as the Integrator, General Manager, and Fractional COO to multiple companies.
Now, he serves as Author and Founder of How to be Second, where he helps Seconds understand who they are, how that’s valuable, and helps them own that for themselves with community, education, and tools.
Hi Nathan, Great job yesterday at the Spark Event – I love your approach and honesty!
Hi Nathan, I wanted to thank you again for taking the time end of last year to help me through my transition and say how much I enjoyed your H2B2 talk at Harbinger event in January.
It was so great to have your voice on this panel, Nathan! I love that you are helping people think differently and creating language that helps people rally around work and relationships in a more strategic way.
I had the pleasure of moderating a panel discussion at Coalition9’s SPARK Event, titled “From Vision to Reality: An Exploration of Business Operating Systems.”
The panel featured industry leaders Nathan Young, Scott Gullickson, Chris Heim, and Heide Olson.
Each brought invaluable insights on how they’ve leveraged business operating systems to scale and grow their businesses while maintaining profitability and team alignment.
Nathan…I am listening to H2B2…mind blown! There are so many things that have come together in my brain for ah-ha moments. Can we go for a walk or get lunch sometime? I need more seconds in my life and would really like to lean into this.
Hey Nathan,
I’m wrapping up your book now and gosh-I’ve never felt more seen before.
Simply wanted to reach out and say thanks for the energy of writing the book, it’s helped me clarify my internal role and clearly articulate how I best fit.
